The common ancestor of all five-chamber revolver aircraft cannons 30 mm calibre are the German WW II cannons type Mk108 and MG213. From these (loots of war – unlicensed versions) evolved between the 1950s until the 1990s various types of cannons of 30mm calibre, five chambers and electric firing but also 25 mm, 27 mm and 20 mm.
The British Royal Ordnance developed the ADEN series (Mk4, Mk5), the French the DEFA 550 series (551, 552, 552C, 553, 554), the U.S the M230 chain gun and also the 20 mm Colt Pontiac, the Israelis the IMI Mk164 and Ordtech DEBO (Directorate for Ballististics and Weapons) the K30 series (K30A, K30B and K30C) with different rates of fire (1200 r.pm to 1800 r.p.m), fire control and pyrotechnic mechanisms.
